Camborne Field Campaign Planning Issues

Camborne Site

Sunshine Statistics

Site Details Radiosonde launches at 11:15 and 23:15 (ZT). Also run Herstmonceaux and Castor Bay sondes Have flown Snow White sondes Part of National Radiaton Sensor Network. Laser cloud base and visibility measurements GPS Water Vapour column. Microwave and other measurements ?

“The Ozone Shed”

FTIR Installation FTIR installed in Ozone Shed Solar tracker hard- mounted on concrete base outside South- facing door. Support structures being designed. Phone and hopefully internet connections available.

Campaign Timetable Preliminary installation prior to main campaign (July) FTIR set up from 11 th August Flight window : 13 th August to 26 th September Initial manned period (1-2 weeks) Other manned periods (of 1 week +) driven by weather conditions. If flight occurs during unmanned period then we can get to site the evening following a noon flight briefing – in time for measurements the next day. Staffing : 2 people out of TG, MC & AB.

Other Issues Liquid N2 : BOC already deliver to site (helium). Accommodation : Other instruments ? Communication between FAAM and Camborne.
