TOP, The Output Processor TOP, The Output Processor Training Presentation Electrotek Concepts
What is TOP? u TOP is an acronym for “The Output Processor”, a software tool which reads data from a variety of measurement instruments and transforms it into simplified power system analyses for inclusion in reports and documents.
System Requirements u 386/486 IBM Compatible PC u 4 MB RAM or more u Math Co-processor u Windows 3.1 or greater u Windows Compatible Video Card u Windows Compatible Printer u Windows Compatible DOS
Data Sharing u The data being visualized in a window can be exported to a variety of other file formats including: u IEEE Comtrade (.CFG) u Windows Metafile (.WMF) u Tagged Image Format (.TIF) u Windows Bitmap (.BMP) u Comma Separated Variable (.CSV)
Data Management Capability u TOP uses a system called the stack to simplify handling data from various sources.
Data Display u TOP provides a variety of ways to visualize the data of interest. u Waveform and spectrum plots u Frequency response plots u Summary tables u Summary bar/volume charts u Cumulative probability charts u Probability density charts
Output Examples
Exporting Data: PASS to TOP u Method 1: Using the TOP icon in PASS. Select TOP Icon in PASS to automatically load and plot graph in TOP.
Exporting Data: PASS to TOP Method 2: Using the Copy Special feature.
Exporting Data: PASS to TOP u Method 2
Getting Started - Saving Files u Saving files in PASS Save as.CSV file.
Getting Started - Opening Files u Opening files in TOP.CSV files are automatically loaded on to the stack.
Getting Started - Using Quick Graph
Getting Started - Loading Data u Opening IEEE Comtrade files (.CFG) Dialog Box for loading data on the stack.
Graphical Manipulations u Working with multiple graphs. u Using the zoom feature. u Formatting graphs
Multiple Graphs u Plotting multiple graphs in a single frame.
Multiple Graphs, cont. u Plotting multiple graphs in a single window.
Zooming with the Mouse u To zoom in on a portion of the graph, click and drag the right mouse button to create a rectangular box around the area of interest and then release the button.
Formatting graphs in TOP u Data labels u Axis scaling u Creating legends u and more!
TOPCalc Functions u Add, Subtract u Multiply, Divide u FFT, DFT, IDFT u Power, energy and I 2 t u Integration, square square root u X-Y combine u Filter, time shift u V, I, & power dB ratio u Cumulative probability
TOPCalc Example v Calculation of line-line voltage,, from phase A voltage and phase B voltage waveforms. v Calculation of line-line voltage, VA l-l, from phase A l-g voltage and phase B l-g voltage waveforms. VA l-g = 100V VB l-g = 100V VC l-g = 100V
TOPCalc Example, cont. VA l-l = VA l-g - VB l-g
TOPCalc Example, cont. VA l-l = 173V VB l-l = 173V VC l-l = 173V TOPCalc creates result of operation as another quantity specified with a DERIVED tag name.
Data Formatting u Preferences can be changed to customize your output: u Base quantities (per unitizing) u Units (axis labels and multipliers) u Data, comment, and annotation blocks u Display colors u Cumulative probability charts u Axis scaling, grid lines, labels
Changing Preferences
Creating Tables u TOP can simply provide a table for the following parameters.
Creating Tables, cont. u Table can be utilized with any spreadsheet for further analysis.
Availability TOP, The Output Processor is available for download from Electrotek Concepts’ Web site at u Support is available from the TOP Forum, a threaded Internet discussion group, also accessible from the TOP download site
