Test Cases ► Concept: Home monitoring system that notifies via SMS ► Status Update: Sensors soldered to Tmote Mainframe being coded to handle problems ► Test Cases: Installation of Mainframe code on another PC Problem detected from each sensor Problem detected when sensor Tmote loses connection with server Tmote Problem detected when SMS Gateway is down Problem detected when disconnected from Internet
Performance Tests ► Simulating problem and checking detection rate Try to achieve 95% success Vary distance from sensor for both smoke and motion ► Measuring the time of Sensor detects problem -> Mainframe sends message since the time after that is out of our hands. ► We will use a stopwatch to measure time
Testing Process ► We will create an installation script for Linux ► Manually cause sensors to detect problems ► Manually interfere sensor-server Tmote communication ► Manually disconnect from Internet ► Generate a gateway exception in the code ► Workload: Testing multiple Tmotes Testing multiple Tmotes... Only have two sensor Tmotes... Only have two sensor Tmotes
Looking Ahead ► It will be difficult to test the actual house fire scenario ► Hardest to test will be the Mainframe’s reliability over a long period of time for different specifications
