Tuusula 4H-association Action close to the children and young people of Tuusula

I am Marita Hagman the executive director of Tuusula 4H- Association 4H´s are Head Hands Heart Health

Association Has been operating in Tuusula already 50 years More than 250 young paid members Children and young people of 6-28 years ages participate in the activities The 9-member Board is working on a voluntary basis The association employs are: one full- time and one part- time

Operating principles The Association is non- political, non-religious multisectoral youth organization 4H – head, hands, heart and health –the basic guiding principles Learning by Doing The Association partcipates the ecuational activities of children and youth with several themes – nature, rural areas, animals, handicrafts, employment, understanding of global and international issues Dressing up in the club

Activities of the Association Chidren’s clubs The Association runs, in cooperation with the Tuusula common, a multitude of club activities, directed to the school children aged 6-12 – nature clubs, cooking clubs, traditional 4H- clubs, international club and a dog club Althogether 11 clubs. Fire drill in the Klemetskog ja Ruotsinkylä clubs with fire department

Summer Camps 2 week-long camps in June Participation in the national camps of the 4H - Union Water games in the camp of 2009

Recent Activities Familiarization of the local youth with rural life – a successful cooperation between the schools and local farms Visiting a farm

Ecological Education in Schools Protection of natural waters - Baltic Sea Day Education on recycling Education on energy saving – electricity consumption and travelling Consumer awareness – buying of things and products Visiting a recycling center

A Path to Employment Project 1 A ”Driving licence to work life” for 1200 Secondary School pupils of Tuusula in years – the project is based on the good relationship with the schools of Tuusula Improving the capacity for employment for the youth of years old
