Background Under Grad :Electronics with specialization in: Bio-instrumentation, Micro processors and micro controllers, sensors and electronic devices Bio-instrumentation, Micro processors and micro controllers, sensors and electronic devices Masters: Electrical engineering Image and signal processing, Magnetic resonance imaging Image and signal processing, Magnetic resonance imaging Research Interest: Flow imaging and quantification techniques Project involved: To quantify velocity in a –U- tube and track the path of Escherichia coli (E-coli) bacteria in water flowing in the –U- tube

Use of Phase contrast MRA to quantify velocity through the –U-tube Mean percent error for the measured flow rates was found to 4.35% at the Inlet and 5.18% at the Outlet Effects of acceleration seen at the outlet Outlet Inlet 42 in Flow phantom Phase map

Miniscule particles (polystyrene beads) of the same size of bacteria were used as a means to mimic the effect of bacteria Susceptibility effects of the beads causes rapid signal loss (dephasing effect) For a concentration of 120microlitre beads the SNR dropped by 54% at echo time 5ms in the stationery frame Reference image Echo time 5ms Bead concentration-120microlitre

Next step.. Use of True FISP sequence to take snap shots of the entire phantom (coronally) with a temporal resolution of about 780ms-1.5s per frame after injecting the beads Use of True FISP sequence to take snap shots of the entire phantom (coronally) with a temporal resolution of about 780ms-1.5s per frame after injecting the beads Short term Career goal: To gain more knowledge and hone my skills in the field of MRI with respect to fast flow imaging techniques and Image and signal processing domain, either industrially or academically To gain more knowledge and hone my skills in the field of MRI with respect to fast flow imaging techniques and Image and signal processing domain, either industrially or academically
