Introduction to Matter 6 th Grade Physical Science Chemistry

Matter is anything which has mass and volume. A block of wood, milk and air all have properties of matter (mass and volume). All matter has physical properties.

Physical Properties aspect of an object that can be experienced using one of the five human senses: touch, taste, olfaction (smell), sight or sound, or, in an extended sense, detected through any measuring device. Changing physical properties does not change the nature of the object. Examples: Color, size, shape, smell…..

All the material on earth is in three states- solid, liquid, and gas. The "state" of the matter refers to the group of matter with the same properties. In other words, you group the objects together according to their properties

Do we agree with this summation points! Gases have the ability to flow and do not resist deformation, and unconstrained gases do not occupy a fixed volume, but instead expand to fill whatever space they occupy.

The liquid state of a material has a definite volume, but it does not have a definite shape and takes the shape of the container, unlike that of the solid state. Unlike the gas state, a liquid does not occupy the entire volume of the container if its volume is larger than the volume of the liquid.
