MDI/DNC MODE This module is intended to provide you with a familiarization of the MDI/DNC Mode on the Haas Control

Here is where you find the MDI/DNC Buttons There are eight different keys under the “Display” area. Some of these have several functions or screens. Apr-17

MDI/DNC Buttons MDI/DNC: COOLANT: ORIENT SPINDLE: ATC FORWARD: ATC REVERSE: Pressing the MDI/DNC button on the control the first time will display the Manual Data Input screen. Used to input and execute data without disturbing programs in memory. The second press turns on Direct Numerical Control. Used to execute a program from external devices. and execute the commands. MDI/DNC Button: MDI/DNC Button: Press <MDI DNC> This will bring up the MDI screen that will allow you to write to “scratch pad memory” and execute the commands. If you decide to save this program you can do so by entering a program number that is not in use and then Press <ALTER> PROGRAM (MDI) O91002 N00000 ; NOTE: The MDI screen will go blank , but the program is now in the program list under the number you entered.

This will bring up the DNC screen that will allow you to execute a program directly from an external device. Setting 55 needs to be ON for DNC to be activated. Coolant Button: COOLANT Button: Press <COOLNT> This will turn on the coolant in any operation mode. A second press of the key will turn the coolant off. PROGRAM (DNC) O91002 N00000 WAITING FOR DNC . . . DNC RS232

Orient Spindle Button: Press <ORIENT SPINDLE> This will rotate the spindle to the tool change position and lock it into place while in MDI/DNC mode. PROGRAM (MDI) O91002 N00000 ;

ATC Forward Button: ATC FORWARD Button: ATC Automatic Tool Changer Press <ATC FWD> This will rotate the tool turret forward to the next tool in the sequence and put it in the spindle. NOTE: If a (Tnn) is defined in the input buffer, the turret will advance to that tool. PROGRAM (MDI) O91002 N00000 ; T5

ATC Reverse Button: ATC REVERSE Button: ATC Automatic Tool Changer Press <ATC REV> This will rotate the tool turret in reverse to the next tool in the sequence and put it in the spindle.
