The Problem Domain Yield varies within a field for a variety of reasons such as soil variability, water, and diseases. Growers need a reliable tool which could compute and display a fully mapped version of their plot's yield. Our system will perform yield mapping of trees. Yield: in agriculture, this term refers to the collected amount of fruits\vegetables relative to the size of the growing area. Yield Mapping: a process of attributing yield to a specific agricultural unit (tree, acre of land, etc) it was taken from kg 42kg 36kg 16kg 25kg 21kg 32kg 22kg 17kg illustration:

Current Solutions Yield Mapping of harvested fields – already exists. An example of such a system is GPS yield mapping system by “Willington Crop Services”,Suffolk, UK. Tree yield mapping is more complex. potential problems:  Fruit picking is almost always done manually by workers.  Tree canopies disrupt GPS reception. existing systems (successful to some extent):  Slaughter and Harrell (1989) - implemented an image-processing algorithm to exploit high contrasting colors of fruits.  Annamalai and Lee (2003) - Picking was done with a robotic fruit harvesting system put on a pick up truck.  Heidman and Rosa (2005) – GPS point sampling mappings. Low resolution and tree canopies stack difficulties on the reliability of the system.  GOAT – the only commercial solution for tree mapping (only for citrus orchards. In addition data refers to a group of trees instead of each tree individually).

System Requirements Functional Requirements  Web-based graphical user interface.  Application of Algorithmic interpolation based on (possibly partial) set of GPS samples.  On-Demand Written reports generation.  On-Demand Geographical reports generation on maps. Maps will include grid model of the orchard + yield results (per tree resolution).

System Requirements Non-Functional Requirements  Web compatibility: IE7 & Mozilla Firefox 3.0  Interface Languages: Hebrew & English  Capacity: up to 10 users.  Response Time:  Written Query- up to 5 sec.  Geographical Query- up to 10 sec.  General constraint – open source programming only:  Open source GIS tools (Udig).  Java Runtime Environment.  OS – Microsoft windows XP / 7
