By its 200th birthday, Miami University will be the leader in the nation among public universities having a primary emphasis on undergraduate education and also having significant graduate and research programs.

Coordinating Council Subcommittees Steering Communication First in 2009 Student Ambassadors Resource Allocation First-Year Experience Benchmarking

First-Year Experience FYE Subcommittee Explore ways to enhance the holistic first-year experience, connecting existing programs and strengthening the interaction between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs. Through campus dialogue, identify priorities for short-term enhancements and some longer-term suggestions for new and expanded program.

Spring 2002 FYE Activities Completing a mission/vision document for holistic first-year experience Creating goals for students, faculty, Student Affairs Staff, administrators Proposing a vision for first-year seminars Site visits Consultations Professional literature Interviews with key campus stakeholders

Enrollment Planning EP Steering Committee Launched in Spring 2001 Partnership between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs Design strategies to achieve enrollment targets, discover ways to improve recruitment, identify other sources of revenue, and further diversity enrollment

EPSC Working Groups High Ability Students Students of Color International Students Transfer Students Graduate Students

EPSC Activities Spring 2002 Working groups report completed 130 activities identified Five areas emphasized: Faculty Involvement and Development, Academic Programming and Advising, Outreach/Message, Cultural/Climate Changes, and New Resource Needs. Two new committees formed: Improving Campus Transition and Developing January Admission Opportunities for First-Year Students

Multicultural Initiatives University Multicultural Council Climate Curriculum Reform/Campus Transformation Evaluation of Progress in Reaching Objectives of University Diversity Plan Advisory to Center for American and World Cultures

By June 2002 the Coordinating Council will: Complete a vision statement for the first-year experience Receive benchmarking documents from all departments/programs Compile a progress report Advance initiatives from Student Ambassadors Formulate action steps for Assist with development of First in 2009 informational brochure for alumni and a vision website
