New Web Pages Intent is to –Publicize service –Outline process –Clearing house for software Work in progress –Listing of existing licences Costs, restrictions, administrators –Listing of licences under review and those with interest

Microsoft Licences Considered Faculty, Staff, Students 3 models –Academic Open Smallest discount Administratively cumbersome –Academic Select Better discount Administratively fits well with E-academy solution –Campus Agreement Possibly Best value Difficult to evaluate against other models Lease Works well for SOME products

Academic Select - OS Moving ahead with Academic Select –initially OS upgrades only –faculty and staff –target take-up 1500 units –3 year agreement –Approx $87 –Full cost recovery –Download through Software Distribution site –Additional charge if media requested –On campus use only

Academic Select Future options Application Pool –Office family –Developer tools –Training and learning –Macintosh products Server Pool –Windows Servers –Server Applications

Student Select Transaction happens through E-academy Media, shipping, service charge -$15-$20 No cost to us All students from California post secondary institutions log into one site for this (300+)

Student Select MS Office XP Standard –$66 MS Office XP Pro –$79 MS Windows XP Pro –$83 Potential to have Office for Mac

MS Office Product Considering Campus Agreement Based on FTE’s Advantage is in ratio of computers per FTE (labs) Frequency of upgrades Lease 3 yr term About $100k per year At Home option - $20 incl. media Baseline IT?

What’s Next? Publicize service –Might wait for MS agreement –Talk to ITSIG next week Look at Network OS’s Consider other MS Academic Select options Solicit community to complete inventory ….
