International Experiences Independent Study

Students  to NCTU Foreign Students Exchange Students  from NCTU Exchange Students Stay in the same country at least 3 months Have taken at least one course by the advisor

Advisor  Any regular full-time faculty member of NCTU  This semester Any Regular Full-time Faculty member, at Center for General Education

Research Subject  Not your major field  For example: Music Arts Politics Language Life Style Education Etc.

Before Registering  Find a subject which you are interested in  Discuss with the advisor  Develop the research topic  Fill out the course selection form Signed by advisor Hand in the form to Ms. Lin at the office at Center for General Education (A605)

During the Semester  Develop a Research Proposal Develop a detailed research plan with your advisor  A Research Proposal includes: Research topic Research methods Schedule Expected results Possible challenges Support needs References

During the Semester  Data Collection Literature review Observation Empirical Studies  Survey  Questionnaire  Interview  Data Analysis Statistics Comparative Etc.

During the Semester  Finish a Project Final Report Hand in your report to your advisor Post Exhibition at “ International Experience Final Party ”  Final Report In any format (written, pictures, movies, etc.) In Chinese or English

Grading Criteria  Course participation 60% Learning attitude Research plan Actual studies (based on the requirements of your advisor)  Final report 40% Term paper Other activities or presentation
