Motion Diagrams Each image taken at equal time interval:

Idealized Motion Diagrams: Treat object as a point (at center of m) Speed Acceleration Since Δt equal, it’s easy!

Examples ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●

Lab Activity Employ motion sensor to measure a Vary mass and angle and verify: a = g sin(theta) (where sin(theta)=y/L) Others do: motion example and MP website homework stuff/book problems.

Lab Setup: Plug motion sensor in. Yellow into 1, black into 2. Open DataStudio, click default choice, click create new activity. Select Add Instrument, list the digital devices, select motion sensor. Drag graph icon (lower left) to motion sensor icon. Graph will display position vs. time Prepare cart to be rolled. Click [start] button and toss cart gently. Click stop. To see v vs. t and a vs. t, left click on the position axis. Choices appear.

Motion Diagram Activity: Measure positions note on your paper. Make a table of position, velocity and accelerations. Graph in Excel (all 3 on one page). Print. Afix your paper to your graph. Hand in next week!
