What is the problem with this slide?

Much better

Best

It is often very annoying to have to read so much text in one slide. You just don’t know on what to concentrate because it’s all letters in front of you. Don’t forget also that at the same time that you are trying to read all of this, the lecturer is lecturing, that is, speaking and trying to explain this slide. So, if you can concentrate on the lecturer while at the same reading everything that’s written on this slide, you really are good, and a terrific multi-tasker. I can’t do it together and some others also cannot; so, in short, do not put so much text in one slide. Got the point? Good.

It is best to break up different ideas with “bullets”. But these bullets should often not be full sentences, but phrases, incomplete sentences. The point is to minimize the amount of text that the audience will read. Remember that you as an audience need to do two things: read and listen; not easy at the same time. Also, it’s important, as written in the previous slide, that not too much text appear on the slide. … and not at the same time. The next slide is much better.

Use “bullets” Use phrases, incomplete sentences Minimize the amount of text Difficult to read and listen Reduce text on a slide Use text effects wisely See next slide

Use “bullets” Use phrases, incomplete sentences Minimize the amount of text Difficult to simultaneously read and listen Reduce text on a slide Use text effects wisely Fade effects are simple and effective Each paragraph enters one at a time Heading for Each Slide

Minimum size of fonts = 20 pt Build up from that: increase by 4 pts. Hierarchy is important Be consistent with the style and size of fonts Font style in English = Times New Roman etc. also Palatino Linotype, Calibri, Californian FB Font style in Hebrew = David ( הוא נראה יפה ) Do not use Times for Hebrew: הוא לא נראה יפה Each slide should have a heading Watch your ssppellingg. Ugh. Each picture, graph, table must have a legend Speak facing the audience: don’t show your backside Speak loudly and enunciate clearly Do NOT read your talk Summary
