Unit 6 Recruitment

This unit is to be finished in 6 hours. Aim of teaching This unit aims to discuss the process of recruiting new staff and what information should be given on a CV. Credit hours: This unit is to be finished in 6 hours.

1. Filling a Vacancy

1b. Discussion Discuss and decide the order in which the company will recruit new staff.

Think and discuss in groups. List the things you have to do on a piece of paper.

1d. Curriculum vitae or resume What is a curriculum vitae? A curriculum vitae includes a summary of your educational and academic background, as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations, and other details. How to write a CV? There are important points to consider when preparing an effective curriculum vitae. It should be clear, concise, complete, and up-to-date with current employment and educational information.

2. Women in management

2a. Discussion Why are there so few women in senior managerial position? Should this situation change? If so, when and how? What advantages or disadvantages would a large proportion of women in management positions bring to business in general? Do you support affirmative action or positive discrimination programs which attempt to employ women or members of minority groups in preference to equally qualified white male candidates?

2c.Listening You will hear Gill, formerly the Senior VP (Vice-President) for HR and Corporate Affairs if Nestle, talking about the role of women in management. Listen to the interview, and then answer the questions.
