OVERVIEW  Introduction to Cankaya University  Purpose of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research and Application  Basic Activities of CEIRA  Main Bodies of CEIRA

Its mission: to raise and educate young people equipped with skills in basic and applied research at international standards, and to contribute to the development of society. " Cankaya University Cankaya University is one of the foundation universities of Turkey. In addition to being an excellent research and educational institution, it is well known for its university/industry relations and particularly its relations with OSTIM, Industrial Zone of Ankara. The university is located in Ankara and serves 4453 students, with 4 Faculties, 1 Vocational High School and 2 Postgraduate Institutes (of Natural & Applied Sciences and Social Sciences).

Purpose of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research and Application It was set up in January 2010 The purpose is to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and innovation culture in Cankaya University, especially among the students, by  organizing capacity-building programs, like courses on entrepreneurship and innovation or national and international seminars, conferences, workshops, etc.  conducting various projects in the field of entrepreneurship, innovation, competitiveness, local economic development and clustering,

Basic Activities of CEIRA (I) Basic activities realized during 2010 & 2011, briefly; Organization of various capacity-building programs in collaboration with KOSGEB, - Entrepreneurship courses (non –formal) - Entreprenurship and Innovation Courses (formal) Organization of seminars, conferences and workshops on entrepreneurship. Organization and setting up of an incubator - particularly for innovative entrepreneurs - in Cankaya University in order to promote entrepreneurship (also in collaboration with KOSGEB).

Basic Activities of CEIRA (II) Basic activities realized during 2010 & 2011, briefly; Conduct of various projects on entrepreneurship, innovation, local economic development, competitiveness and clustering in collaboration with the stakeholders for the Development Agencies, Organized Industrial Zones, etc, located in different parts of the country. Organization of an Entrepreneurship Award, each year, in order to promote entrepreneurship, Encouraging both students and academics to participate in national and international entrepreneurship award competitions, Joining national and international networks on entrepreneurship and innovation in order to establish and develop collaborations with other centers functionning like CEIRA.

Decision Bodies of the Center (I) The Management Board; This is the highest level decision body of the Center, which decides on and approves the activity reports related to the previous periods & work plans for the next periods, each year. It is chaired by the President of the Center who is also the Vice President of the University.

Decision Bodies of the Center (II) The Director; She/he prepares the activity reports of the previous period and also develops short, medium and long term work plans related to the next period of the Center.  The work plans and the activity reports are presented to the Management Board for their consent and approval by the Director, twice a year.  In addition she/he is responsible for the execution of the work plans on time within the allocated resources.  Moreover, she /he prepares progress reports by monitoring ongoing projects conducted under the responsibility of the Center, twice a year.

Decision Bodies of the Center (III) Working Groups; Various project groups and activity organization groups are established with the participation of academics from different departments of the University with the task of implementing the planned projects and the activities (eg: 1 EU-IPA Project, 1 Leonardo Project, 2 Internationalisation Projects (with national sources).
