It’s a Small World After All Mrs. Edlin’s Virtual Field Trip

Welcome! We have studied what the words alike, different, and unique mean. People who live in other countries are like us in many ways and are also different from us in many ways. The things that make us different are what make us unique! A person’s culture is one way that makes them unique.

What they eat and even how they eat is part of someone’s culture.

What a person wears is also part of their culture.

Learning about other countries around the world and their cultures is fun! Let’s hear what Grover has to say about his travels: Grover Says:

I am going to give you a Passport. A Passport is a special document that allows you to visit places outside of the United States. After you visit each country, I would like you to draw a picture in your Passport about something you learned while in that country.

Take out your Passport and let’s go ! Lets go on an Adventure Take out your Passport and let’s go !

What do they eat in Mexico? Mexican food is considered to be very spicy. Well, that is only partially true. Mexican food history shows that Mexico has given chocolate to the world, as well as several other specialties, including peanuts, vanilla, beans, coconuts and tomatoes. The traditional Mexican cooking makes use of these native elements to produce tasteful meals.

What do they wear in Mexico? The people in Mexico wear the same clothes we wear every day, but they also have traditional outfits they wear during festivals and special events celebrating their country.

What do they eat in India? There are many types of Indian food. Indian food is often thought of as very spicy, but there are some simple breads, sweet deserts, and milder “one pot dishes” that are not. Indian food is often eaten with the hands; however, this custom is guided by some basic rules. For instance, it is considered impolite to allow the food to pass the first joint of the fingers. The fingers should never touch the mouth directly. In addition, only the right hand may be used in eating. Click on the food above for more information on Indian food and how they eat.

What do they wear in India? They mainly wear four different types of clothes in India: Sari Salwar Kameez Ghaghra Dhoti http://www.historyforkids.org/learn/india/clothing/index.htm
