Aflatxoin In The Oil Yi Ziyue Chem th December

The Background Every year there are more than 3 million tons recycled food oil flow to the table of Chinese. There are lots of the harmful substance in the oil, the main organic toxin is aflatoxin. Normally, the removal of the organic toxins is not applied because of the cost and technical level.

Aflatoxin Production Oil+fungi+oxygen=aflatoxin; Oxidized product + fungi = do them a favor Sealed container, no oxygen. Expose to air, no futher use after the first use. Low in aflatoxin, but high in other oxidized harmful product. The fungi has time to produce aflatoxin.

Aflatoxin Can cause cancer. Need 280+ celsus to be destoryed (oil BP 250). Stable in the acidic environment. The standard for the aflatoxin level is 20ug/kg.

The Problem Chinese government has claim that using and producing recycle food oil are crimes. The police makes the criminals evolve their technique, the old PH analysis can be cheated now. China needs a stable/ cheap/ convinent/ uncheatable method to analysis the food oil.

Hypothesis The aflatoxin level can be used to identify the recycled oil.

The Studies The normal and aflatoxin standard oil must go through the whole process to get an average of the losing in the extraction.

Sample Preparation No storage to ensure the accuracy. Filtration: remove the dishes in the oil. Extraction: methanol. The details can be any kind. Aflatoxin will be in mathanol.

The Abandoned Instruments InstrumentAdavantageDisadvantage CZEFaster and use smaller amount of the sample. More expensive and harder to buy. Sample preparation uses more steps. UV absorptionA quite common detection instrument. Cheap. Not as accurate as fluorenscent detector.

HPLC-Flurorenscent Column: Waters Spherisorb NH2 Column, 3 µm, 4.6 x 250 mm [PSS832315]. Temp: Environment temp. Mobile phase: Methanol and water mixture, need to be adjust according to the situation. Flow rate: Also need to be adjust according to the situation. Flurorenscent: 365nm.
