American Indian and Alaska native populations have a high incidence rate for specific cancer sites and poor survival rates for most cancers. There are three bands of Klallams. We were once the largest tribe on the Peninsula. The three Bands are the Lower Elwha, Jamestown and the Port Gamble tribe. There are three bands of Klallams. My wish actually came true..That was the beginning of the Pink Paddle Project.

Primary Objective of the Pink Paddle Project Decrease The Risk Of Breast Cancer In Native Women And Provide Awareness And Education In Breast Health. Pink Paddle Project Cancer education and breast health awareness was promoted in four health fairs, two early detection classes, two mammogram clinics, cancer 101 training, community needs assessment, newspaper and magazine articles, honoring native women’s conference, and cancer education information booths at many tribal health fairs and locations along our journey route.
