Plan  What is Design Project Management  Organization of Senior Design RIT INSA  The objective of the exchange  What kind of project is it ?

DPM course We learn:  To behave in group  To take the role of leader  To create a Specifications  To create and organize a schedule  DPM course form students to be some future manager

Organization of SD at RIT  Student team that will carry out the project develop DPM  Team manager by a student of DPM  Possibility of using all technology available on condition that it would remain in the budget  Three months to the theoretical study and 3 other month to the realization, CNC of RIT

Organization of SD at RIT  400 students per year  50 projects Each are different 6 or 7 are in relation with “robotic platform”  6 students per team  Production of the project

Organization of SD at INSA  Project begin at the middle of the first semester  Realization of the theoretical study  Make the project on computer (CAD)  Make some manufacturing ranges  Possibility of using all technology available  8 months to realize the project. Delta Robot of the INSA, Rennes.

Organization of SD at INSA  40 students per year  One project given by our teachers All team work on the same project Teams have to make different systems  4students per team  Presentation of each project for an eventual production

Organization  The project thus over several years  Courses will not change in either school  Only the topic of the subject changes

Interest  Working with people from another country  Getting acquainted with the other method, units…  Strengthen international work  Know another method of work  collaboration between ideas and technologies  Allow to exchange our experiences and ideas  Solve problems in a different way  Helping students to have an international role

Project Throughout these three months we studied and worked out a schedule of conditions on a project called "motor module" so that this module can transport a load of 1 kg. We had at our disposal of the "motor module" for loads of 10 and 100 kg.

Robotic Platform Family Overview

How does it work?  RIT Senior Design Team completes 10 motor module  Faculty guide will choose the most promising robot  This robot will be sent to INSA de Rennes  The French project team will improve the robot by adding the suspension

The French Connection

How does it work? For next the 3 months our objective is: ○ To follow the 5 teams which will carry out the "motor module", to take part in the development of this project. ○ Then to carry out a schedule of conditions for French student so that they improves the module the following year.
