8 Human rights  Human rights form the basis of human peace in all areas: In national and international politics, as well as in your village or family.  They affect every single individual and are due to each and every individual. Their communication is one of the most important tasks of education.  Questions concerning human rights:  What are human rights?  Where do they come from?  What do they mean for me?  Who is responsible for their monitoring? 9 Human rights (Excerpts from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights) / 1  All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.  They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood (without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status).  Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.  No one shall be held in slavery or servitude. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.  Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law.
