All rights reserved. 1 of 5 The Microsoft ® Office system provides new ways to easily add charts or graphics to text, and integrates these in Microsoft ® Office Word 2007, Microsoft ® Office Excel 2007, Microsoft ® Office Outlook 2007, and Microsoft ® Office PowerPoint This means you can now add great-looking charts and graphics with the same tools in different Microsoft ® Office applications. Charts Charts enable you to easily create numerically driven chart types, such as bar charts or line charts. As in prior versions, Excel 2007 manages the data, but now displaying and formatting these charts in other programs is much easier. SmartArt Graphics SmartArt graphics enable you to create diagrams that convey processes or relationships, such as graphical lists or organizational charts. You can choose from more than 80 layouts to more clearly communicate your message. Open Word 2007, Excel 2007, Outlook 2007, or PowerPoint On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click Chart. (In Excel, click Insert, and then click a style from the Charts group.) 1 2 Insert a Column Chart Understand Charts and SmartArt Graphics Notes This guide uses a column chart and a SmartArt process graphic as examples. For example, you can change the way chart or axis titles are displayed, or remove them altogether. Click the chart you want to modify. Under Chart Tools, click the Design tab Modify the Style of a Column Chart Add style effects to a chart to increase its visual appeal. Click the chart you want to modify. 1 2 In the Chart Styles group, click the More arrow, and then click a style. 1 Click the chart you want to update. Update Data in an Existing Column Chart 3 Under Chart Tools, click the Design tab. In the Chart Layout group, click the More arrow, and then click a layout. Note When inserting a chart in Word 2007, Outlook 2007, or PowerPoint 2007, Excel 2007 opens and displays temporary data. 3 Do one of the following: In Word 2007, Outlook 2007, or PowerPoint 2007: Edit the data in the Excel 2007 window. Click Bar, choose a Bar chart style, and then click OK. Open a Word, Outlook, Excel, or PowerPoint document. On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click SmartArt. In the left pane, click Process. 3 Insert a Process Graphic 1 2 The process graphic is one of many information graphic possibilities that uses SmartArt graphics Do one of the following: In Word 2007, Outlook 2007, or PowerPoint 2007: Under Chart Tools, click the Design tab. In the Data group, click Select Data. In the Excel 2007 window that opens, edit the data. When you are done, close the window. Your edits appear in the original file. - OR - In Excel 2007: Edit the data and save the changes before closing the window.

Modify the Style of a Process Graphic You can modify the style of a process graphic to change the way the elements appear. For example, add a 3-D look to your graphic. Click the graphic you want to modify. Under SmartArt Tools, click the Design tab Change the Layout of a Process Graphic You can change the way process graphic shapes are laid out on the page. For example, you can switch to a chart that displays connecting lines to indicate the process flow rather than arrows Label the shapes by doing one of the following: Type text in the Type your text here box. - OR - Click a shape, and then type text directly into the shape. In the right pane, click Basic Bending Process, and then click OK.
