Per R. Bodin Fiber-Optic Gyrokompasset No Moving parts No Maintenance required High dynamic accuracy Short setting time Heading, roll, pitch and rate sensor

Per R. Bodin The new Fiber-Optic Gyrocompass is the first solid-state, fully electronic digital gyrocompass system for marine application in strapdown technology, designed for highly sophisticated integrated bridges and advanced high-speed vessels

Per R. Bodin The function of the Fiber-Optic Gyrocompass is based on the so-called Sagnac Effect. Here, a fiber-optic coil is used as a very sensitive rate sensor, which is capable of measuring the speed of rotation of the eart. A combination of three such fiber-ptic coils and two electronic level sensors is able to determine the direction of true north.

Per R. Bodin From the three rate of turn signsls and the information from the level sensors a sophisticated Kalman Filter computes the direction of the rotation of the earth from which geographical north is derived.

Per R. Bodin Designed in strapdown technology, the fiber- optic gyrocompass is attached directly to the vessel, eliminating the use of a gimbal system. This arrangement has the advantage of not only supplying heading information but also roll, pitch and rate of turn about all three axes.

Per R. Bodin The fiber-optic gyrokompass can also be used as a sensor for stabilizer system not only on merchant marine vessels but also on hydrofoils or catamarans.

Per R. Bodin The extremely short setting time of only 30 minuts will be of great advantage for fast ferries. The fiber-optic gyrokompass is a complete solid-state design with no rotating or moving parts, with a very high reliability (MTBF) and no maintenance requirements.

Per R. Bodin MAIN FEATURES High dynamic accuracy Short setting time High reliability, high MTBF Meet all IMO recommendations incl. High Speed Code Compact low-weight No maintenance required Low power consumption Data transmission via serial interface NMEA 0183 FAST output RS 422 SUPER FASAT output Second gyrocompass and magnetic compass input All repeater compasses selfaligning via serial interface Additional analog outputs for all rate of turn signals Compass monitor and heading selector function acc. To DNV-W1 Automatic emergency power changeover (ACC. TO GMDSS) Independent, short-circuit-proof Built-in test equipment
