Welcome

Updates & Reminders CT Recovery Initiative Websites and Working with Vendors Non-Portal Content Inventory WebTrends Streaming Video Service iStockphoto Contract Expiring Guidelines for Rotating Images Classic DSF Reminders V3 Templates

CT Recovery Initiative Agency Receiving Stimulus Funds A web page will need to be created. − minimum content to be included will be identified by Governor’s Office − We will try to provide a standard template based on their recommendations − We will provide a CT Recovery graphic for the home page to link to page

Websites & Working with Vendors Media, Marketing, Advertising and Public Relation Services (DAS Contract 08PSX0068) IT Consulting – Web Development, Design and Hosting for Marketing Services (DOIT Contract 08ITZ0057) awards/ca08itz0057rev1.pdf

Websites & Working with Vendors If an Agency is using the DAS Contract and a website is in the scope of work they must use the DOIT contract for any technical website development The contract can also be used by Agencies that need assistance maintaining their website (Costs range between $50- $200/hour)

Non-Portal Content Inventory There are hundreds of pieces of dynamic content and Access Databases hosted on IIS servers There are security concerns with Access databases on the web We are reviewing all non-Portal sites for dynamic content − ASP, ASPX − Access Databases − Web Forms

Non-Portal Content Inventory The Inventory form is located here: − ntent_inventory_survey.htm ntent_inventory_survey.htm We would like to have the Inventory completed by April 17, 2009 As a second step, we may use this inventory as a Housekeeping tool − Remove excess or duplicate files from the IIS servers.

WebTrends WebTrends still works Profiles are analyzing − 71 Sites Completed − 22 Sites Left in Queue − 70 Portal Sites Not Requested We are still looking into ways to increase the amount of profiles we can analyze

Streaming Video Service No charge for the first year − After the first year, it will be evaluated and may become a billable service − If demand is not high enough for this Service, the Service may be reduced or cancelled altogether Both space and bandwidth are limited − 50 GB of storage; 1000 GB of bandwidth traffic per month − Exceeding either may cause a re- evaluation of cost before 1 year

Streaming Video Service Service launched in September 2008 − 6 months ago − 6 months to go (08/09) Currently, only three (3) agencies are using the service − About 4% of space − About 6.8% of bandwidth per month Video Seminars If interested in the service, view the CPI website ( =427896&cpiNav=|) =427896&cpiNav=|

iStock Contract Expiring IStockPhoto ( Contract expires in April 2009 We still have credits left − Use them or lose them − 1 credit = 1 photo Agencies may now request as many as ten (10) extra images (even if they are not ready to use them at this time)

iStock Contract Expiring Agencies can browse images online − No Vector Images − No Video − No Animation PMG will download the images Use online form to request up to 10 extra images − URL − Make sure to include Reference number NOTE: Based on demand, all 10 requests may not be accommodated Once credits run out, no further requests will be honored

iStock Contract in the Future With current spending freeze the earliest we could renew is July 2009 If/When we are able to renew this service, it will be for fewer credits

iStock Photo Reminders Images from IStockPhoto.com are for web use only − They cannot be used for printed materials of any sort Images cannot be stored on a shared drive Follow all copyright rules and laws

Guidelines for Rotating Images State of Connecticut Accessibility Policy − Users must be able to navigate a website using only a keyboard − Alt Text must be used with every image What are Rotating Images? − Static pictures that change on pre-determined time interval Creating Rotating Images − Flash − JavaScript − DSF Random Feature

Guidelines for Rotating Images Flash − Links on transition should also be available elsewhere on page − Alternate means to get the information other than the flash presentation itself JavaScript − Generic Alt Text to describe the overall objective of the images − Hyperlink on each image − Separate HTML page with Links DSF Random Feature − Static Image − Alt Text on every image − Hyperlink on each image

Classic DSF Reminders Edit this Page − Bypass Routing − Item in Route (Updates cannot be made) CT.gov Seasonal images − No Contract (Jack McConnell) − iStockphoto
