Justin Burger Period 5 3/14/11

Opec is the organization of petroleum exporting countries The countries are in the Middle East South America And Africa Opec’s natural resources are oil and natural gas

They destroy the environment They charge us a lot for oil and gasoline They give 2/3 of our oil and they have 79% of the world’s oil reserves Opec controls near the entire oil market

If we buy from Opec and we don’t need to worry about oil spills If we don’t buy from them and we need to worry more about pollution lose/lose The environment has been getting worse by this because either way someone is spilling oil

The USA has done so much to help the environment like Hybrid and electric cars Solar, wind, and nuclear energies Chevrolet volt Even houses are equipped with solar energy

Natural gas Biofuel Hydro fuels All of the listed are ideas that will get us away from opec and oil and pollution

Opec has progressed in many ways in the past years Since we get 2/3 of our oil from opec they earn lots of money Opec gets more money hires more people then get even more oil then they control oil market by selling it

Gasoline prices have jumped in the past few years Prices have reached nearly $4.00 a gallon This is caused by political unrest in the middle east so therefore workers are protesting meaning less oil produced This creates high gas prices

By having lack of interference with there ways and beliefs we can tolerate each other to support each other. Opec has many emotional decisions as well But even with our disbelief in their religion they live well we get 2/3 of our oil from them so if they stop supplying us they will get less money

Saudi Arabia is the highest oil producing country Opec has 12 countries in it We have 20 million barrels out of 75.6 barrels of Opec’s oil
