Economic and Policy Analysis Directorate p 8 Summary èMain U.S. exports to Canada - high-value processed products. èLargest component of Canadian exports to Mexico - bulk. èUnder NAFTA, Mexican exports to Canada show different patterns of growth and contraction across categories. èSince 1988, total Canadian agricultural exports have doubled while food processing exports have tripled. èBefore the CUSTA took effect, 9% of Canadian food processor’s total shipments were exported. By 1997, had doubled to 18%.
