Presentation transcript:

Research perspectives on nanotechnology and society based on session 3 and workshop on: The limits of nanotechnology and beyond 1)Regulation of risks and the adaption of institutional frameworks of regulation as a response to the challenges of nanotechnlogies -identification of new risks related to working environment, environment, consumer protection, military use and misuse, and inequalities in the world order -the perception and translation of risks and the need for new regulatory frameworks and institutions -the role of regulatory institutions in the innovation process

2) Trajectory building and path creation in nano research, application and development the role of visions, problem definitions and research agendas in nano research in the design of socio-technical systems and products the role of network-building between nano researchers, early users, applicating sectors, manufacturing and end urs in the creation of trajectories for development the role of established institutions (innovation systems, strongholds and competences) in path creation how to increase awareness of development needs in lesser developed countries identification of spaces where problems, concerns and choices related to nanotechnologies can be adressed and dealt with

3) Art as communication of potential implications and challenges in manipulations with conceptions of human identity and human-technology distinctions
