I found one of the most difficult things about making a traditional class into an interactive, online class is mentally converting the material over into the virtual world.

Secondly, you have to find the tools that will help make this conversion possible.

It is difficult enough to keep students on pace in a face-to-face class, but online it’s tougher. If the student doesn’t feel like the instructor is right there with them to guide, encourage, and even discipline, the chances of bringing them to a successful conclusion is greatly diminished. This session will demonstrate the process of converting a lab intensive class into a stand-alone, online class using video screen captures on CD, and discussion boards. Methods used to motivate and encourage the students will be shared from multiple experiences and classes. My Immediate Needs Communications issues, either through the discussion board or other various communications, is addressed through the use of netiquette.

Additional Needs for me… I use Irfanview to make screenshots of the statistics page in Blackboard to show the students that I know just how much they are really doing and when.
