 DISCOVERING NING  My PLE  Posted by Debra Kreuzig on August 5, 2009 at 2:48pmDebra Kreuzig  View My Blog View My Blog  Wed Today I discovered the Web 2.0 is a two-way - street - it is a "Read and Write Web" in which information was transmitted and consumed, created, shared, remixed and passed along. I have Blogged today for the first time and experienced different views from my fellow students, all very interesting and food for thought! Today was so far an informational session apposed to an in - depth practical application. Found it hard to get on line. Deb

 Digital Story 3 Digital Story 3  Coffee Deb.wmv I have just tried my first digital story and I would like to share it with you all. It is easy to do and fun! It is a very short experience so hang on! A digital story is a series of digital photos sequenced to convey a message, instruction. Case Study 4b: E-learning in Furniture and Joinery (Heritage Restoration) – University of Ballarat (TAFE)

 Posted by Debra Kreuzig on October 26, 2009 at 9:30pmDebra Kreuzig  Hi - this is my reflection for Assignment 3. I have been able to appreciate and value teamwork more since I have completed Assignment 3 - discussing current issues in e-learning in our organisation (WSITAFE). Not only do we all share the same views; we also experience similar restrictions for e-learning in our work environment. Through our case studies on “ e-learning in the trades” we have shared and discussed our thoughts and concerns’ and this in itself has been of great benefit to me as a teacher and I feel that I am not the only one in this situation. Our group work presentation last week not only discussed the importance of e-learning but how and if it fits in with our pedagogical environment, and the limited management support for equipment in some cases. However as teachers we can implement various free sites such as Photo story 3 and develop resources that will assist the students in preparation towards their practical skills. This type of project is not always funded, therefore through the teacher’s passion and personal time they develop this resource. I also enjoyed the experience of group work via a wiki site through TAFE as our collaborative work for this assignment. I did experience difficulty in entering the wiki site from my home computer but eventually succeeded. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank my fellow team mates for their support and good nature when developing this assignment. I enjoyed working with you all. Cheers Debra Kreuzig

 I have experienced a new dimension of learning and teaching resources through e- learning. I have experience frustration trying to connect to Ning and master the site but like all new things it takes time, patience and a willingness to understand. I have experienced many e –learning tools and have joined: wiki spaces, developed a Photo Story 3 and attached it to my PLE in the Ning site, joined delicious and flickr, used the widgets in wiki spaces and enjoyed the conversations in class about how technology has influenced teaching disciplines.  The case study on; ‘e-learning in the trades’ has broadened my perception of how digital stories can enhance or blend a trade classroom with on –line learning and be successful. I look forward in bringing these tools into my teaching environment. Like me my fellow teachers are willing to come to grips with e-learning and embrace the future in technology. By sharing our personal work situations we can stay in touch with and understand that it’s not always the teacher’s unwillingness but funding and management barriers as well.  I must admit ‘blogging’ was not something I have ever experienced before this class – I do not have a face book either - strange but true, however after my experience through this class on the Ning site, I will be starting one after UNI and looking forward in sharing information and experiences. There is so much to download and use for personal or professional use - it’s endless.  Good luck to you all and happy blogging!!!  Cheers  Deb
