NGAO Control Systems Group Status, Plans & Issues NGAO Team Meeting August 19, 2008 Erik Johansson Jimmy Johnson, Doug Morrison, Ed Wetherell

Controls Team Erik Johansson (Lead) Jimmy Johnson (Technologist) Ed Wetherell (Electronics) Doug Morrison (Software)

Status Held Controls Team kickoff meeting on 8/5. Set up Controls Team Twiki page: –Keck/NGAO Web > ControlsSystems Most of team not available until start of FY-09 –Currently updating schedule based on availability –Shuffling tasks to continue progress in remainder of FY-08 Working on interpreting the WBS entries and determining the required (optimum) deliverables for the major tasks: –Requirements: OCD, SRD, FRD –Overall Controls Architecture –Overall SW architecture –MCS, UI, AO controls, Laser controls architectures Initial discussions with Jimmy Johnson and Doug Morrison regarding SW framework options for NGAO controls.

Plans Intro to AO presentation for controls team, 8/28 Controls Team meeting, 8/29, to discuss: –NGAO WBS –Project assignments –Goals and deliverables for the PD phase Work with Peter to update the schedule Little work on NGAO for next 2-3 weeks due to higher priority work on K1 LGS Continue in Sep with work on: –Operational Concept Documents –Updating Requirements –Change control document –SW and Component standards documents

Issues Concerns regarding the cost cap and associated re-plans: –Impractical to design to every possible scenario –Need some kind of baseline from which to proceed –Need entire NGAO team on the same page
