Expected Results Carry science payload to near-space conditions Observe plume of R134a as it is released from valve Capture infrared image of plume.

Pre-Flight Serial Ports Flight Computer module’s serial ports stopped working hours before flight. No communication between computer, data storage, and frame capture board. Required to substitute with development board hours before flight

Pre-Flight Serial Ports Flight Computer module stopped receiving data over serial line hours before launch Results in no communication with both frame capture board and data storage. Required to substitute payload with development board hours before flight.

Launch Change in hardware led to wiring complications. Hot glued components to the development board. Connections worked for brief hardware testing on-site. Sealed payload with hardware connected and working. At launch, status lights were not on, LED pins presumed bumped out of position.

Recovery No status LEDs on recovery. Upon opening, flight computer was not powered on, but other components were. Connection was loose between flight computer and power system Result: No data collected during flight

Lessons Learned New team- first large-scale project together. Gradual learning of software design for flight systems throughout development of payload Importance of hardware freeze.

Future Testing Plan to run own balloon launch within next three weeks. Research: FAA flight requirement Amateur radio license Radio communication specifics

The End Questions??
