Planning An Verbal Presentation

Sequential Communication Follow the instruction of presenter to draw the picture You have 5 minutes Presenter and the one who draw the closes match will gain bonus points in the oral presentation component of project assignment

Characteristics of General Audience Listening is much more difficult than reading  "Listeners" listen somewhere between 25% and 50% of the time Information must be taken in "on the fly" with no backtracking  Short-term memory holds only 5 to 7 points  People remember only 10% of what they hear versus 50% of what they read If your audience listens only part of the time and remembers only 10% of what they hear, then your "window" of communication is around % of your total presentation time!

How to present? Succinct Sequence – logical flow of information Repetition – improve audience reception and suggest importance of information Visuals – help audience to visualize by constantly referring to the visuals

Two Sequences Introduction Market analysis Problem statement Initial Ideas, their pros and cons Selection of idea Further development Details of final design Problem statement Overview of final design Details of final design with analytical support
