The Life Cycle of a Butterfly The Butterfly has many stages in it’s life.
Egg The butterfly begins its life as an egg. The egg is laid on milkweed leaves.
Caterpillar The egg hatches into a caterpillar and it eats milkweed. The caterpillars grow very quickly.
Pupa When the caterpillar is ready it makes the pupa to begin to convert.
Butterfly forms in the pupa 24 hours prior to the release
Butterfly breaks free When the butterfly is done forming in the pupa stage, the butterfly begins to break free.
The Adult Butterfly WWhen the butterfly breaks free it forms into a beautiful adult butterfly in a variety of shapes and colors.
