Overview Resources Student Programs Courses Research Community Questions

Resources AirBears coverage – Thank you for increasing coverage in Cory! – AirBears is still spotty on 6th & 7th floor Soda. South Side labs – HFA labs should be open to all CS students

Resources Students are interested in reading groups and talks but don’t know where to find information about them Suggestion: announce technical talks in lectures

Overview Resources Student Programs Courses Research Community Questions

Student Programs Current Internship Program –no better than CalJobs through the Career Center. –offers no advantage for Berkeley students. –does not ensure job positions that offer challenging and applicable work.

Student Programs Current Internship Program Available –Suggestion: Revert back to previous internship program with reserved internships for Berkeley students.

Student Programs Thesis in EECS Honors Program –EECS students feel that current Honors Program has lost its prestige. –Possible solution: Option of completing a thesis in the Honors Program ~27% of students would find a thesis useful.

Student Programs CS Masters program – Students are interested in the Masters program and are excited that faculty is moving it forward

Overview Resources Student Programs Courses Research Community Questions

Courses Class Documents –Students find lecture notes, project specs and homework well-prepared

Courses Last year students complained about the lack of accountability in partnership classes – Students appreciate the individual projects in the lower division classes

Overview Resources Student Programs Courses Research Community Questions

Research Students are very interested in research - gives them a better idea of what is expected in grad school - students can discover what area of research most interests them

Research Still difficult for students to find research – URAP & UROP are not up-to-date – there are not many options available for EECS students – Skill requirements are unclear – Students feel intimidated to approach professors

Research Undergraduate research groups, like Gamesman, are popular and are a good way to introduce students to research – boosts confidence in finding research later on

Research Suggestions – encourage more professors to lead research groups for undergraduates – professors can post a list of required background knowledge so that students are better prepared to approach professors about research – point out interesting research problems in class to excite students into doing research – update web pages to reflect current research opportunities

Overview Resources Student Programs Courses Research Community Questions

Community Why it is important – Enables students to more effectively utilize existing resources – Improves communication between students and faculty – Encourages the sharing of ideas
