FIRST Competition – “710”

Team Hammond’s Recipe for a Successful Robot Strategy and Design

Call me “Mr. Bill”

Oh No! Mr. Bill !

Three Things Needed to Win a Championship 1 - Pretty Good Robot 2 - Reliability 3 - Lots of Luck

Too many chefs spoil the broth. Many hands makes work light, but… chiefs chiefsrobot

#1 Establish one head or lead person.

Mr. Bill’s “Putaside”

#2 Become very familiar with the kit and other construction materials.  Know the kit thoroughly  Memorize additional hardware list  Absorb the small parts catalog  Make a motor specification table

#3 Build the goals and devices immediately.

#4 Learn the game and scoring Thoroughly!

#5 The three most important design features of a robot are: I.Drives II.Drives III.Drives

#6 Get a boilerplate chassis running Now!

#7 Look for “keys” to the game and designs to achieve them.

#8 Don’t get into a design rut.

#9 Start building as soon as possible.

#10 Try and keep a flexible design with “fallback” possibilities.

#11 Don’t underestimate the ability of the drivers, but look for simple, mechanical and electrical driver aids.

#12 Practice, Practice, Practice!

Autonomous Frosting Evaluate: Importance Capability Cost Decision
