Budget Reduction - FY 2010 $2.4 Million $3.6 Million (10%) (15%) target to be determined…

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Washington’s share >$6.7 billion –Education block grants to local school districts and public colleges and universities - $820 M –Flexible block grants to avert budget cuts in K- 12, higher education, or other basic state services - $182 M –Pell grants. Increases maximum grant to $5,350 in 2009, and $5,550 in 2010.

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 –“American Opportunity Tax Credit” provides up to $2,500 of the cost of tuition and related expenses paid during the taxable year –Workforce Investment Act (WIA) job training and employment services, including state formula grants for dislocated worker, youth, and adult programs - $50.3M (WA share) –$750 million for new program of competitive grants for worker retraining and placement in high growth and emerging industries
