Pedestrians and Community Building Sugar House Summit 27 Feb 2010

Why consider pedestrians in community building? ALL trips begin and end as pedestrians. 30% of our population does not drive. Pedestrian-oriented building patterns are more sustainable. Auto-oriented building patterns increase the cost of everything.

How do we improve the quality of the pedestrian’s experience? Connect destinations. Make it enjoyable. QUALITY urban design. Make it safe. Minimize auto/pedestrian conflict points.
