Prepared by Denise Dimon for Ahlers Center Study Abroad Program Faculty 2007 Getting Started with Live-Classroom The best way to learn how to use this tool is to experiment. It is very user-friendly. Presented here are some basic instructions to get you started. Easy ways to use Live-Classroom: –Upload powerpoint slides for discussion –Discuss cases and assignments (best if questions are posted in advance) –Team or individual student presentations –View web pages –Solve problems –Interact via voice, chat and eBoard –Conduct short class surveys

Prepared by Denise Dimon for Ahlers Center Study Abroad Program Faculty 2007 What to do if students are having trouble Remind them to do the “wizard” on the computer they intend to use for the sessions They can also “call in” by using the information posted on the front of the live classroom session (they need the dial-in number and the pin for your classroom) There is 24/7 assistance available to them (and you) by calling Note: for you to be able to access “live classroom” you need to be in the “Teach” mode of WebCT (not “Build”). If you are in the “Student” mode your name will appear as “demo student” in the live classroom and you will not have access to all of the instructor tools.

Click on the “import powerpoint button” and upload your powerpoint. 2)Now your powerpoint has been saved in the live classroom and you can move from slide to slide by clicking on the title of the slides. The presentation is saved in this room for later use. “Import Powerpoint button” Move from slide to slide to push them to the eboard - only as the instructor do you see the list of slides and these controls

To improve sound quality, frequently release the button if you will be talking for a long time The eBoard allows collaboration. You can write content on blank sheets or on existing slides you are showing. If you want to allow your students to collaborate, click the “enable” button after they have entered the room to give them access. Collaborate with the eBoard Share your desktop tools. For example, if you want to show how to do a task using excel you can open up excel on your desktop and it will be visible to all the students in their eBoard.

Everything said and shown in your session will be saved for later viewing. When finished click again to stop. Your session will be saved and made available to students where they first enter the live classroom
