1 st Annual SCCS 8 th Grade Trip to Washington D.C.

Our Stop was Friendship Heights.

Few miles away from the US Capitol. Location: Washington D.C.near Chevy Chase, Maryland. We took the metro to get to our hotel. Breakfast time is everyday from 6:30 am to 9:30 am. The Cheesecake Factory is inside the Embassy Suites. We went to eat there the second day.

Hop On Hop Off Bus (AKA The Ho-Ho-Bus) For me the most joyful part of the trip was riding the Hop On Hop Off Bus and saying “HI Guys to anyone around.” The Ho-Ho-Bus allows you to go around Washington DC and check out the great places from the second floor of the bus. - Karen

What a powerful, moving place to experience! Mrs. Goldstein located her Great Uncle and we witnessed a soldier’s funeral.

The National Cathedral is a marvelous and detailed place to visit when you go to Washington DC. It contains more than fifteen chapels inside of this beautiful building!

How thrilling to see the Declaration of Independence and Constitution!

There is an Elvis exhibit. They update every state’s news each day. Athlete photo exhibit were you can see notable athletes. They have different theaters and they have different 4D shows every day.

Reflection Pool, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument

Air and Space Museum There are dozens of airplanes here, there’s the Wright Brothers' Flyer, Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, World War II planes and the Apollo 11. There is an IMAX that shows the history of certain planes. There are also flying simulators that you can fly with a duel cockpit. They have a store where there is everything from model planes to gravity defying toys. The Air and Space museum was my favorite part of the trip. -Kiowa

When we went to the National History Museum we saw the Hope Diamond, learned about rocks and prehistoric animals, and visited the evolution hall.

The Holocaust Museum During our trip to our nation’s capitol, we visited the Holocaust Museum. It was very moving to see the conditions that Adolf Hitler made people live in. We saw models of gas chambers, cattle cars, old shoes, photos, videos and many other depressing artifacts that were a result of the Holocaust. I think that the trip to this museum was very educational and gave students a first hand look at the hard times of this tragic event. To conclude, I believe that every time there is a school trip to Washington, the students should take a tour of the Holocaust Museum. Mrs. Goldstein, Ryan Wachendorfer, Zach Trombetta, Kiowa Ritcheson, and in the back,Henry Smirl standing in front of the Holocaust Museum.

On April 30 we went on a Spirit Cruise. We had a blast. We first began with some dinner and ended the trip with dancing.
