Introduction Overview of Competition Design Conditions Design Conditions Grading Criteria Grading Criteria Our Participation Drawings and Analysis Timeline Costs
Design Conditions Overall length must be a maximum of 108” Overall width must be a maximum of 64” Must have 4 or more wheels not in a straight line Must be capable of carrying one person 6’3” tall and weighing 250 lbs. Driver must be able to exit on either side of the vehicle within 5 seconds The only engine allowed is a Briggs & Stratton 10 hp OHV Intek Model
Grading Criteria: Cost Report Design Analysis Acceleration Braking Traction Land Maneuverability Specialty Events Endurance Race
What we do Bring knowledge of mechanical systems Fluent with engineering software Ability to analyze components Load testing Laboratory resources Manufacturing abilities
Manufacturing Methods Primarily mandrel bent tubing with mig welded joints Heim joint inserts into tubing with mig welded joints End mill used to cut keyways in drive shafts Water jet used to cut out all flat brackets and plates
Manufacturing Plan – Lower Frame Cut tubes to length Cut ends at a 45* angle Bend sides to specified dimensions Tack weld all tubes into place Measure to assure the dimensions are correct Mig weld all joints to finalize assembly
