The class website zI will put lecture slides, in-class-work handouts, tutorials on how to use calculators, and sample tests on my web. zYou are welcome to drop me s from the website, with or without your name.

Add, drop and withdrawal policy zThe business school has the policy for add, drop and withdrawal yIn the first four weeks, you have to get enrolled in the class, if you want yStudents can withdraw only once yPlease read the syllabus for detailed information

My expectation in this course zI want everyone in the room to better understand finance yto be familiar with key concepts / issues yto feel more comfortable talking about finance and answering finance questions.

My experience in this course ystudents who come to class, listen, review the problems, and think a lot, typically do well. ystudents who seldom show up in class usually perform poorly.

Textbook zFundamentals of Financial Management, concise 6 th Edition, by Southwestern. zThis is a very popular textbook, which has been used in many programs for the intro course in finance. zMaybe tougher than other textbooks. zYou will like it.

Financial Calculators zTexas Instruments BAII-Plus (No need to buy the professional model) zHP 10B II.

Prerequisites zYou are required to take (ACCT 101, ECON 101, DS 110, 212; ISYS 263 or pass computer information systems proficiency test. )ACCT 101 ECON 101DS ISYS 263

Homework zHomework will not be graded. The solution will be posted on my web. zTry to do the Self-test problems at the end of each chapter in the textbook. zThe best way to learn new concepts is to do a lot of problems.

In-Class-Work zThere will be 4 in-class work assignments. zThe schedule of these in-class projects will not be announced in advance, so just come to the lectures.

Three quizzes and final exam zThe quizzes are closed-book and closed notes. There are no make-ups. zThe tests are based on material covered in lectures, in-class-work, homework, and textbook. Mostly multiple choice questions. z The in-class-work will be relevant for the quizzes; The quizzes will be relevant for the final!

Quizzes and Final z Please bring your SFSU ID or a driver license to class, as well as scantrons.

Grading zClass performance 10 points zQuiz of lowest score drop zThe other two quizzes 50 zFinal exam 40 zTotal 100points

The curve grade zThe grade that will appear on your transcript is based on the ranking of your total scores in class: zTop 15% of class A to A- zAbove 65% of class B+ to B- zAbove 25% of class C+ to C- zBottom 25% of class D+ to F zThe instructor reserves the right to make minor adjustment if necessary.

Class performance zAny attempt to seek undue favor from the instructor will negatively affect your class performance. zThe instructor cannot assign extra work to any individual to improve her/his grade.

Academic integrity zThe instructor has zero tolerance for cheating or looking at each other during the exams zIn the exams, please sit as far as possible between each other. I did catch several cheating activities in the past.

Communicate with the instructor zTeaching Style: Lectures and problem solving zI APPRECIATE any constructive suggestions (in person or ) that would improve the course.

If you are trying to add… zClass is full. Cannot exceed class limit. 19
