Dealing with Serious Injuries Power to stop play Err on side of caution – e.g. always stop play quickly for head injuries Allow trainer to assess injury (and treat if can be done quickly) Do not treat a player yourself – keep an eye on the other players If able remove from field (but always allow goalkeepers to be treated on the field) Player can return - with your permission - once play has restarted (no need to wait for stoppage)

Less Serious Injuries No need to stop play Permit player to leave field for treatment Player can return once play has restarted (no need to wait for stoppage)

Summary Err on side of caution as to seriousness Treatment is done by trainer, not you If player has left field, then he can come back with your permission at any time, once play has restarted Allow for all time lost in dealing with the injury
