Why the International Studies Major? Understand other cultures Gain a complimentary second major with a global perspective Broaden college experience Double major Add abroad experience/research to resume

1. Core Class Requirements GROUP A Two of the following: – Anthropology 206 or 208 – Geography 161 – Political Science 220 or 225 GROUP B One of the following: – History 101 – History 102 GROUP C One of the following: – Anthropology 111 – Anthropology 206 or 208 (if not used for Group A)

2. Elective Credits 9-12 credits Any course with a significant international focus (see list)list At least six credits must come from outside of student’s primary major

3. Language Requirements Proficiency equivalent to two years of college language study. –Example: 4 years high school Must be completed before you study abroad.

4. Integrative Senior Project Prior to studying abroad: –students propose a project that integrates their primary major with their experience abroad. Complete project upon return

5. Experience Abroad Ten weeks spent abroad on a pre- approved experience With or without credit Includes study, work experience or research

Requirements to declare major 1.27 credits (Sophomore) GPA 3.3 credits completed in the primary major. 4.First year (or equivalent) of foreign language proficiency  Download “packet” online  To declare: Meet with your college ISM advisor or with your study abroad advisor
