Plate Tectonics

The Earth’s Structure Crust Mantle Outer Core Inner Core Lithosphere

Plates The lithosphere is divided into plates that move slowly in relation to each other.

Plates When the plates move, it creates stress on the earth’s crust and causes the deformation of rocks and the earth’s crust. Can you think of any examples of these deformations?

Plate Boundaries Convergent: Moving together, often by one plate plunging under the other Divergent: Rifting or moving apart Transform: Horizontal slippage along fault line
