ME ON THE MAP How many MAPS are you on? *A slide show by Mrs. Forsgren and her First Grade students

About our Project! Family and Community Academic Standard Four Week Unit Maps skillsReading WritingSocial Studies Timelines Cooperative group work

Let the Learning and Creating Begin…  The students begin the unit by listening to “Me on the Map” by Joan Sweeney.  We spent one day focusing on each map we are part of.  The children made an individual map for each and added important features& landmarks.  All maps were complied into a book entitled “Me on the Map”!

A masterpiece completed! A student assembled collection of maps. Student created class book entitled “From My Windowsill..” Each child created their own timeline with the help of 6 th grade buddies. Last but not least!...Students worked in groups of 2-3 to create a slide on one of the Maps they are apart of.

First Grade “Slide Guide” At least 3 things you learned about the map. At least one image but not more than four about the map. Write/draw word & image ideas on slide practice paper. With teacher assistance, create slide on computer. –3 fonts to choose from, locating images *LET THE SLIDE SHOW BEGIN…

My World: Earth by: The earth is round. It is covered with a lot of water. There are 7 continents. –North America –South America –Africa –Asia –Australia –Europe –Antarctica There are 4 oceans.
