Unit Thirteen – Advanced Layout 3 Layer Management The TOC’s appearance reflects on the layout  TOC becomes Legend  Remains actively linked by default  Need to review and adjust: 1. Layer names 2. Symbology labels

Unit Thirteen – Advanced Layout 4 Layer Management ► Multiple Data Frames allow multiple frames in the Layout ► For magnification insets ► For locus maps ► For views of other, related data ► Layers may be repeated as much as is needed Meaningful Layer names are even more important when repeating the same layer!

Unit Thirteen – Advanced Layout 5 Layer Management Layer names and legend labels get changed in two different tabs of the Layer properties. General Tab for Layer Name Symbology Tab for Legend Labels

Unit Thirteen – Advanced Layout 6 Layer Management Layers can appear as many times as you need them to. 1.Locus Data Frame added 2.Crash labels simplified 3.Symbology reversed 4.Layer names changed

Unit Thirteen – Advanced Layout 7 1.I NSERT >> L EGEND 2.Remove layers from list as needed 3.Pick number of columns 4.Go on to next wizard panel Legend: Inserting Select the Layers to include in the Legend Remove

Unit Thirteen – Advanced Layout 8 Legend: Linked The Legend remains linked to the TOC… unless you don’t want it to be... When converted to Graphics, the Legend is no longer connected to the Data Frame
