Background Information Delta Sigma Pi is a Professional Business Fraternity. Delta Sigma Pi was founded at New York University School of Commerce, Accounts, & Finance in Founders: –Harold Valentine Jacobs –Henry Albert Tienken –Alexander Frank Makay –Alfred Moysello

Problems Attendance Poor participation in all mandatory activities. No harsh punishment. No enforcement. Member Involvement Lack of importance to participate. Overall poor dedication. Gap between brothers and faculty brothers. Leadership Weak enforcement. No initiative. Clicks within members.

Problems Approached Creation of member survey, which was administered to all faculty & discussed at member meetings. Talked one-on-one with executive member board about the current problems to be addressed.

Survey These questions refer to your thoughts and feelings towards Delta Sigma Pi and the organization. Please use the following guidelines to answer these questions. Take the time to truthfully consider your answers. Strongly Agree:1 Agree:2 Neutral:3 Disagree:4 Strongly Disagree:5 _____ 1. Change in necessary with in Delta Sigma Pi. _____ 2. This organization has the ability to change. _____ 3. Delta Sigma is very important to me. _____ 4. Attendance to all events should be mandatory. _____ 5. There should be a fee for unexcused absences for mandatory meetings. _____ 6. All members work equally to attain goals within the fraternity. _____ 7. There is great leadership in this organization _____ 8. The fraternity is very team orientated. _____ 9. The fraternity deals well with change. _____ 10. I am proud to be a member of Delta Sigma Pi. Any additional comments that you would like to add to this questionnaire, any possible changes, or suggestions that should be brought to the executive members of the fraternity, feel free to add them here:

Solutions Implemented/Built a new attendance policy. Made problems aware to executive members. Feelings felt by faculty brothers were addressed and implemented. With new attendance policy it will show the importance of member involvement in each activity. ΔΣΠ

Success! New attendance policy implemented on December 3, 2006 & goes into affect January 1, New Policy: –2 unexcused absences permitted. –3 unexcused results in a verbal warning. –4 unexcused results in written warning & $30 fine. –5 unexcused member must go on trial & face the board with their reasoning for their unexcused absences.

In Progress… Member Involvement Issue has been addressed. With the new attendance policy members will provide how much DSP means to them. Leadership Executive members realize this problem & is working to improve & succeed.

What we’ve gained Change is necessary in every organization. Change takes time & dedication. Change is easier implemented when there is strong leadership. Cooperation is needed by all members.
