Save the Children Save the Children is non profit organization that makes a difference in children life in United States and around the world. This organization is a member of the International Save the Children Alliance that is made of 27 organizations in more than 100 countries

History of Save the Children The inspiration and vision for this organization came in great part from the international children’s right movement that started in 1919 in England by Eglantyne Jebb who was a founder of the first Save The Children fund in Great Britain.

Mission “ Working together to create opportunities for the world’s children to live life safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives” “ Working with families to define and solve the problems their children and communities face and utilizing a broad array of strategies to ensure self sufficiency-is the cornerstone of all Save the Children Programs”

Tax Exempt Status Save the Children is registered with IRS as 501 (C) (3) organization and have been given tax – exempt status According to (c) means that organizations can accept contributions and offer donors a tax deduction for their gifts. For donors like you, this means your contributions are fully tax-deductible to the amount allowed by law.

Membership Organizations or individuals can become members of the organization. For example, American Express: it is on of the corporate partners. Anyone who has an American express card and enrolled in points reward program can redeem points to donate to the organization. Volunteers are big part of this organization success. Individuals or organizations can sponsor a child or a project, by donating money or sending gifts that can help them.

Potential Clients Statistical research data identify low income families and communities that are in special need. USA programs mostly target low income communities. School age children are organization's biggest clients. Organizations emphasizes on after school program, education and appropriate nutrition needed for children.

U.S Programs (the following information is retrieved from the official organization site FACTS * There is a dividing line among rich and poor in the United States, and when one in six children lives in poverty. * Literacy becomes very critical to pull children out of poverty. * Many American communities lack public resources such as libraries and after school programs that can be available to children. * There is also a link between proper nutrition and lack of physical activity that causes learning difficulties and ability to concentrate.

Today organization works in 13 states and helps thousands of school age children in the following areas: * Quality Literacy * Physical Activity Programs * Nutrition program The goal is to create programs that will improve academic performance, health and ultimately, children’s lives

Save the Children unique approach Break Down Barriers Building long term relationships with local organizations who are trusted and valued in the community Develops Quality Programs Volunteers are trained extensively on best practices, and provided with necessary hardware, software and books to make programs reality for children in need Provides Intense Training and Technical Assistance Staff of the organization provides special training that fits that community needs and follow up Focuses on Results Local organizations that directly associated with the program monitors children performance and continuously seeks ways to improve it

Corporate Partners American Express, Brooks tone, Citi Group, Microsoft, Starbucks are just few organizations that work with save the children. Most of them are consumer related and have goal towards fundraising. They donate a portion of the sale of products and services they provide

Changing Lives through Sponsorship Sponsorship is one of ways organization builds its community education and health programs and improves individual children lives. Sponsor-supported programs are based on meeting children's needs at key stages in their physical and intellectual development, from early childhood to adolescence. “With education as the principal goal of our sponsorship programs, we focus on the core developmental stages and needs of children’s lives”

Save the Children Issue Americans consistently rank child survival in poor countries as a top priority of U.S foreign policy In the next 24 hours almost 30,000 under age 5 will die most from preventable or treatable causes Save the Children recommends that United States increase foreign assistance funding for child survival, maternal health and voluntary family planning to help children.

Sharper Focus and Further Funding Can Save Children’s Lives Increase funding for the services that will save the most children and mothers Save newborn lives Protect the health of mothers Reach the poorest US Leadership can prevent needles child deaths

Conclusions Save The children is non profit organization in United States and all over the world that makes a difference in many children lives and their future with the help of government and every single individual in our society.
