School of Earth And Space Exploration

A New Approach to Earth and Space Research and Education We embrace the importance of technology development – not simply the use of existing technology – in earth and space exploration, and thus make engineering a fundamental part of our research and educational enterprises. We are dedicated to the creation of new knowledge that expands not only our understanding of the universe but also our understanding of mankind’s place within it. In studying the evolution of Earth and other planets, we hope to define a new, more enlightened approach to the stewardship of our home planet and those to which we venture in the future.

Addressing the Grand Challenges Describe the genesis of stars and galaxies Resolve the spectrum of planetary evolution Understand the development of habitable environments Determine the origin and distribution of life Characterize the co-evolution of Earth and societies Develop a scientifically literate populace

Degree Offerings 2006 B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Geological Sciences B.S. in Earth and Space Exploration BAE in Earth and Space Education B.S. in Aerospace Engineering (collaborative with FSE) M.S. and Ph.D. in Astrophysics
