Agricultural Maps Maps can quickly give the essence of large amounts of data Maps could be produced and published on the web showing densities of: –Cattle –Sheep –Crops –Grass –Labour Maps could show data at a parish level

Standard labour requirements by agricultural area show how intensively the land is being farmed across Scotland This is in units of Full- time equivalents per hectare

Map issues Geographic level –Parish level with some cells withheld –County with all areas displayed Base –Agricultural land including common grazings –Total area of parish Shading – different colours or different shades –Colours make it easy to tell exactly what band an area is in –Shading gives a more immediate impression of the data

Maps of poultry, pigs and other individual items are highly disclosive Only useful to the extent that it shows there are no large areas of Scotland with no pigs and that there is a concentration in the north-east

Other GIS Issues GIS Software can be used to map parish boundaries on to boundaries of other geographies such as parliamentary constituency We are not currently planning to publish such tables as disclosure may conflict with published results but they may be available on request
