How it works! System – Smart phone/ PDA with Docking Station – RFID reader reads tags off the products in the kitchen and updates the ‘status’ of the kitchen. – Smart phone/ PDA generates a shopping list based on ideal stock and current kitchen status Assumptions – All the products will be RFID tagged replacing currently used UPC Barcodes

Test Cases Transmission of tags to Gumstix – Connect Gumstix to a terminal on PC during testing – Print data as it is processed in real time Transmission of database to phone – Dump tag database out to screen on gumstix and compare it to file received on the phone

Demo Scenario User walks in with a couple of bags full of groceries – The RFID reader reads all the tags on the different products – The gumstix processor updates the ‘current status’ of the kitchen – oblivious to the user

Evaluation Criteria Read tags on all the products in the time that a person enters the house Cope up with the reader’s capability of reading multiple tags per second (25ms per tag) Reading different tags close to each other Not reading any tag multiple times

Looking Ahead Issues with RFID tags – Not working efficiently with metals and/ or some liquids Most difficult test case – Direction of motion given the constraint of one RFID reader
